H2H members' Türkiye-Syria earthquake response

Following the 7.8 and 7.6 magnitude earthquakes that hit southeast Türkiye and northwest Syria, more than 46,900 people have been killed, 63,500 buildings have been damaged and 18 million people are estimated to be affected at the time of writing (20/02/2023). The scale and impact of the disaster have overwhelmed national capacities and further exacerbated the protracted complex emergency in northern Syria. Many cross-cutting challenges must be addressed for the crisis response to meet humanitarian needs.

The H2H Network has a key role in supporting the response with technical expertise and services. Many H2H members, leveraging their existing resources and connections, are responding remotely and in affected areas, while others are assessing needs and developing response plans.
