The H2H Network enables free services available for the humanitarian community in Lebanon
The H2H Network is activating its H2H Fund to enable eight H2H Members to provide essential services that will strengthen the humanitarian response in Lebanon. These services will address critical needs in the aid delivery, including LGBTIQA+ inclusion, rapid needs assessments, damage mapping, and security management. The initiatives will also enhance communication resilience, diaspora engagement, real-time data accessibility, and community-driven feedback to ensure an effective, inclusive, and accountable response.
The consequences of the conflict in Lebanon, triggered by the Israeli military campaign against Hezbollah that began in September 2024, have left over 60% of the population in need of humanitarian assistance. Despite a ceasefire implemented in November 2024, the conflict resulted in widespread destruction across the country, with vital infrastructure, including severely disrupted healthcare and water systems, destabilizing Lebanon's already fragile economy. The conflict displaced close to one million people, in a country already hosting the highest number of refugees per capita globally. Although the vast majority of internally displaced persons (IDPs) have returned to their areas of origin, they face enduring challenges to regain access to their homes, basic services, and livelihoods. This demands efficient coordinated humanitarian action to provide emergency relief while also supporting early recovery.
In response, the following H2H-funded projects will be delivered by:
- Edge Effect: Strengthening LGBTIQA+ National Coordination and Inclusion within Humanitarian Response
- IMPACT Initiatives: Informing emergency planning and prioritization through rapid assessments and needs monitoring
- Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team: Providing Collaborative Approaches to Mapping Damage
- CDAC Network: Strengthening Communication Resilience - Bridging Gaps in Coordination
- RedR UK: Training on Security Adaption for Adequate Management & Advanced Humanitarianism
- The New Humanitarian: Informing humanitarian response measures through the Lebanon Listening Project
- Data Friendly Space: Unlocking the Accessibility of Real-Time Data and Targeted Analysis in Lebanon and Gaza through GANNET SituationHubs
- Diaspora Emergency Action (DEMAC): Strengthening Lebanese Diaspora Efforts through Capacity Building and Collaborative Emergency Relief
By adopting these projects, humanitarian responders can better address key gaps in Lebanon's humanitarian response by enhancing inclusion, providing timely data and damage mapping, strengthening communication and coordination, and integrating diaspora and community actors.
